Egídio Guilherme Vaz Raposo
Egidio G. Vaz Raposo is a communication strategist, researcher, public affairs adviser, and elected Member of Parliament, with over two decades of experience at the intersection of strategic communication, governance, media, and international development.
Born in Tete and based in Maputo, Mozambique, Egidio has built a career that spans continents and sectors – from national mass communication campaigns and UN-funded projects to board-level corporate governance in the energy industry and the halls of the national legislature.
His work is grounded in a simple conviction: communication, when done well, changes behaviour, builds trust, and transforms institutions.
A career defined by impact across sectors
Over twenty years, Egidio has designed and led national-scale mass communication campaigns, Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) programmes, and institutional visibility strategies for some of the world’s most respected organisations: the United Nations, the World Bank, the European Union, DFID, the Swiss Development Cooperation, the High Commission of Canada, IREX, SNV, the WageIndicator Foundation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
He has produced communication outputs across every major platform: television, radio, outdoor, print, digital, and social media and in multiple languages, including Portuguese and communities speaking Xichangana, Cisena, Ciyao, Echuwabo, and Emakhuwa.
His international portfolio spans Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, and Switzerland.
Board leadership in Mozambique’s energy sector
From May 2020 to January 2025, Egidio served as Member of the Board of Directors at ENH-Kogas, a key player in Mozambique’s oil and gas industry. In that capacity, he provided strategic oversight and governance, shaped commercial strategies, and fostered partnerships with government entities and industry stakeholders. His board-level contribution encompassed corporate governance, people management, and technology, advancing the organisation’s objectives with a focus on sustainable growth and long-term impact.
In Parliament, and in government advisory
In 2025, Egidio was elected Member of Parliament of the Republic of Mozambique for the VII Legislature (2025 to 2029), bringing his communication expertise and research depth into the heart of national governance and public policy.
He also served as Communications Adviser to the newly established Ministry of Economy of Mozambique, developing a comprehensive integrated communications strategy for 2025 to 2029 – encompassing digital transformation, audience-centred messaging, stakeholder engagement, institutional reputation management, and internal capacity building – as part of an EU-funded technical assistance programme supporting trade and investment development under the SADC Economic Partnership Agreement.
Recognition and academic grounding
In 2013, Egidio was awarded the International Innovating Justice Award by The Hague Institute for the Internationalisation of Law (HiiL), in recognition of his labour justice communication campaign model across Sub-Saharan Africa – a model subsequently replicated in Latin America and Asia.
Academically, he holds a Master of Science in Communication from Walden University (USA), post-graduate qualifications in Journalism and Media Studies from Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism (USA), and a Licentiate Degree in History from Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique.
He is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC, USA), a Founding Member and Senior Researcher at the Mozambican Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEC), a Founding Member of the World Historians Without Borders Association (Helsinki, Finland), and a Founding Member of the Mozambican Centre for Human Rights and Environment (CODD).
He is a prolific author of scholarly articles, book chapters, and policy reports. His full publication list and consulting portfolio are available at egidiovaz.com/publicacoesegidiovaz.
