Egídio Guilherme Vaz Raposo
Egidio Vaz is a media scholar, trainer, communication consultant and researcher for over 10 years.
Egidio is a Maputo-based Communications Expert, who is a native Portuguese speaker. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Communications from Walden University in the United States of America, and a Postgraduate in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Ohio in the United States of America. He is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications of the USA and founding member of the World’s Historian Without Borders Association based in Helsinki, Finland.
With over 20 years of professional experience as a Communications Expert, Egidio has designed and delivered high-quality print and digital communications materials, and planned and executed direct and mass outreach and communications plans, as well as broader knowledge management strategies, for the international donor community, such as the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the United Nations (UN) in Mozambique and selected SADC countries. He has also undertaken similar activities for economic research and civil society organisations, including the Southern African Research and Documentation Centre (SARDC), SNV, the Wage Indicator Foundation of the Netherlands, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
He has served as chief media spokesperson for several organisations and has assisted with the organisation and facilitation of outreach events, workshops, and fora.
Most recently Egidio held long-term multidisciplinary functions at the High Commission of Canada to Mozambique (2014 – 2018), working as a Political Analyst, a Social Media Expert, and a Programme Manager for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
Additionally, Egidio has experience providing capacity building and skills development services, having provided such expertise to media organisations in support of media reforms in Mozambique, and has directly trained journalists in multi-disciplinary journalism and digital media. This has allowed Egidio to maintain working relationships with a media stakeholder in numerous mediums and platforms.
